A message from Dr. Kamran Khan, owner of the Animal Hospital of Chetek:

One year ago today Dr. Carlson gave me the opportunity of a lifetime. She handed me the reigns of a fantastic AAHA accredited veterinary hospital with an outstanding client base that truly loves all of their pets. I could not have imagined a better scenario, and one year later I could not be happier.

Over the last year I have gotten to know many of you, and I cannot thank you enough for giving me the opportunity to continue with the care of your pets.  I know there was some unease at first as Dr. Carlson set an incredibly high standard for pet care, but I am proud to say the team at the Animal Hospital of Chetek has continued with that tradition. We have even added new technology to help us help your pets. The Bair Hugger heating blanket has been a particular joy. We can say in no uncertain terms that it has saved the life of at least 10 pets that would have otherwise perished from hypothermia. As the years go on, we will continue to acquire new life saving technology. This is a promise to all of you to keep the high standard of care that you have come to rightfully expect.

2011 was not always easy. We lost many loved ones, but their memories will stay with us forever, and we will see them again on the other side of that rainbow bridge.  2011 was also a time of great joy. Many of you adopted new puppies, kittens, dogs, and cats to your families, and we have enjoyed watching them grow up with you. It never ceases to amaze me to watch the transition from an 8 week old puppy to a 1 year old dog. Saying they grow up too fast just doesn?t seem to be enough.

On a more personal note, the city of Chetek has been incredibly kind to my family. Lori and Kittra could not be happier, and Atticus, well he?s only two months old so it?s hard to ask him what he thinks. But Chetek is all he knows, and he sure does smile a lot. We love the hospitality, and we have always felt welcome. I could not think of a better place to raise my family.

As we approach my second year at the Animal Hospital of Chetek I am looking forward to seeing you all again. I am looking forward to seeing your pets grow. I am eager to see the wonderful grooming cuts that Karen keeps producing for us. I am excited about our Healthy Pet Program (the first of its kind in Western Wisconsin).  And I am excited about hearing from all of you. Remember, the best way for us to improve as a hospital and for me to improve as a veterinarian is for you to tell me what we need to be doing.

Finally I would like to thank Dr. Kuchevar, Tishara, Amber, Karen, Mari-Lyn, Hilary, and the Amy?s. Without you guys I could not do anything.

Thank you again for welcoming my family.

Sincerely,

Kamran Khan, DVM
